We Mourn The Loss Of Our Dear President, Carolyn Kilgore

Carolyn Thompkins Obituary

Carolyn Kilgore Thompkins, 71, of Hope Mills went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Carolyn was born in Fayetteville, NC and was a proud graduate of Massey High School. Carolyn had a banking career that spanned 50 years.  At her passing she was the current President and long-term member of the Cape Fear Kiwanis Club, an active Lady of the Church and lived to serve others as prescribed in the books of Peter, Matthew, and John. Carolyn never met a stranger.

Carolyn was a devoted wife to her husband, Craig, for more than 52 years. To her sons, daughters, and grandchildren she taught the importance of hard work, loyalty, and loving others more than one’s self. Though her passing was unexpected, her family takes solace in knowing she lived a full life free of regret.

A visitation in Carolyn’s honor will be held from 12:00 to 1:45 PM on Wednesday, June 19. 2024, at Hope Mills Methodist Church, at 4955 Legion Rd Hope Mills, NC, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Reverend Prentis Harris, III. with burial to follow the service at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

Those who wish to make a monetary gift in memory of Carolyn may make a donation to the Hope Mills Methodist Church or the Cape Fear Kiwanis Club.  To truly honor her life – do good, love others and serve the Lord.

We:

  • Are not a luncheon club, but believe in good fellowship
  • Are not a religious organization, but believe in God
  • Are not a benevolent organization, but believe charity
  • Are not a patriotic organization, but believe in America
  • Are not a fraternal organization, but believe in brotherhood
  • Are not a political organization, but believe in good government

As a service organization, we are not any of these things separately; and yet, we are all of these things combined.
