Grants for Children-Serving Organizations

Our Club’s fundraising activities annually bring in thousands of dollars that we re-distribute in the form of grants to children-serving organizations.

Funding Priorities & Guidelines

We provide grants to various community organizations, but we give priority to:

– Kiwanis children’s programs and projects, including:

  • K-Kids
  • Builders Clubs
  • Key Clubs
  • Circle K
  • Aktion Clubs


– Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina

– Scholarships for Key Club members

– Programs endorsed by Kiwanis International

Although our emphasis is on young children, we may also assist groups that focus on  families or serve other members of our community. Our club must have active participation in the program or project you are requesting funding for. 

We do not fund administrative expenses, travel, housing, utility expenses, or other social or medical emergencies.

Organizations that receive grants are welcome to re-apply in future years. However, before new funding requests will be considered, the organization must submit a letter summarizing how the previous funding was used and how our club participated. These summaries can be submitted by email to Club Secretary Lynne Grates.

Submission Deadline & Timeline

Requests for Funding may be submitted at any time during the year but must be at least 3 months prior to event.  Our fiscal year runs from 1 October to 30 September. Contact Club Secretary Lynne Grates with questions. We coordinate with each organization requesting funds to schedule a 10-15 minutes presentation at one of our club meetings to educate club members about their group. Recipients are notified, following a review by a committee of our Club members.

Grant recipients that intend to re-apply for funding in future years submit a letter summarizing how the funding was used and how our club participated. This summary is required before new funding requests will be considered. Summaries are emailed to Club Secretary Lynne Grates.
